The old French press trick my dad swore by finally clicked

After 15 years of cheap drip machines, I tried his 4-minute steep and slow press method on a $20 thrift store press last Sunday, and the difference was wild. Anyone else have a family hack that took them forever to actually test out?

Swear I thought my dad was just being extra with his whole ritual. I grew up watching him fuss over water temp and those slow pushes like it was some sacred ceremony, and honestly it felt like overkill.
