Saw a guy last week try to skip the final walk-through because "it looked fine from the door." My friend made him do it twice, just like @the_river's old boss would have. Some people just don't get that the last look is the most important one.
That's a line you only hear from someone who's been in the trade a long time. My old boss used to say the same thing, that the pride in doing the dirty jobs right is fading. He made a point of teaching me the proper way to sweep and inspect, not just rush through it. It stuck with me, and now I notice which new guys take that care and which ones just want to be done.
