TIL that a cashier at my local Save A Lot in Tulsa told me the clearance meat gets marked down at 7am, not evening
I used to swing by after work and find nothing, but now I stop in before 8am on my way to work and grabbed a 2 lb pack of chicken thighs for $2.49, so has anyone else figured out the exact markdown schedule at their store?
Read somewhere that most grocery stores do their markdowns first thing in the morning because that's when the meat department gets a fresh count and decides what has to go. The sell by dates get checked before the store opens, so anything hitting its last day gets stickered right then. Evening markdowns are a thing at some chains but it's usually just the bakery and produce, not meat. Sounds like your Save A Lot is pretty standard, hit it early and you win.
