Gas station sushi in Wichita was surprisingly not a disaster

Stopped at a Kwik Shop off Kellogg last Tuesday because I was starving and broke. Grabbed their $4.99 salmon roll set mostly as a joke, expecting regret. It was actually cold, fresh, and didn't taste like the ocean floor. Are gas station sushi standards creeping up, or did I just get lucky? Anyone else found hidden gems in weird spots like that?
