I stopped buying cat photo books new and started hunting library sales, saved $340
I used to drop $35 to $50 at Barnes and Noble every couple months on those big glossy cat books, and my shelf was getting full of stuff I flipped through twice. Back in March I started hitting the library sale at the rec center in my town, the one where they dump old donated books in boxes for a buck each. I found a 1978 hardcover of cat portraits with a torn dust jacket for $1, and honestly the photos in it are better than half the new stuff I paid full price for. The trick is going on the last day of the sale, because they do a bag sale where you fill a grocery bag for $3, and I walked out with 11 cat books for three bucks. I also check the free cart by the door every time I return books, and I've grabbed 4 more that way. My total spending since March is $6 instead of the $340 I would have spent buying new. Does anyone else hit library sales for this stuff, or am I the only one digging through dusty boxes for cat books?
