Read that power stretchers hit 300 lbs of pull, and now I'm second guessing my knee kicker
I was poking around an old installer forum last week and saw a post saying a proper power stretcher can put around 300 lbs of tension into a carpet, way more than what you get kicking it in by hand. That number stuck with me because I've been stretching bedrooms solo with a knee kicker for 6 years and never had a callback. So now I'm torn. One side says if it's not power stretched it's not really stretched and it'll ripple in a year. Other side says on a small room with good tack strip and a hot glue seam, a kicker plus a mini stretcher holds fine and gets you out the door faster. What do you all run on a normal 12x14 with no seams, kicker only or do you drag the power stretcher in every single time? And has anyone actually measured the pull difference or is that 300 lb figure just something passed around?
