Took the $4/hr pay cut for a job closer to home, and I'm still doing the math on whether it was dumb
Two shops wanted me last spring. One was a fence crew out in Aurora paying $26 an hour with a 50 minute drive each way, the other was a gate shop 15 minutes from my place at $22. I picked the close one because I was burning $90 a week in gas and getting home at 7:30 every night. Six months in, my truck thanks me but my wallet doesn't, and I've been doing the math on the extra $160 a week I walked away from. Did anyone else take the closer job and actually come out ahead once you added up gas and wear on your car?
