Took me 19 days to fix one line on my resume and I almost gave up
I know that sounds dumb but hear me out. I applied to a job at a hospital in Denver back in March and got auto rejected twice, so I finally asked a friend who works in HR what was wrong with my resume and she said my summary section was "a wall of nothing." I had one paragraph that was 6 lines long with no numbers in it at all, just stuff like "hard working team player who helps wherever needed." So I rewrote that one section, added three real numbers from my old job, and cut it down to 2 sentences, and that alone took me almost 3 weeks because I kept second guessing every word. I must have rewritten it 20 times and made my husband read it out loud to me at the kitchen table until it sounded like a person talking. The funny part is the rest of the resume barely changed at all, it was just that top part nobody even told me to fix. Has anyone else had a recruiter or friend point out one tiny thing that ended up being the whole problem?
