Spent 2 years answering every email in 5 minutes, then my boss said something that stopped me cold
For two years I treated my inbox like a game, replying to everything within 5 minutes, even during lunch, and I thought that made me the reliable one on the team. Last month my manager pulled me aside and said the fast replies were why I kept getting left off the bigger projects. The quick turnaround made me look like I had spare time, while the guy who ignored email for half the day was seen as busy with "real work." Now I batch replies twice a day and I still feel guilty about it. Is being easy to reach actually a career killer, or did my boss just have a weird way of seeing things?
