Question about the 3-week notice trend I keep seeing, is this real?
Last Tuesday I had a junior dev tell me they were putting in a 3-week notice, not 2, because some TikTok said it 'looks better.' HR laughed and said they'd just move the start date back a week, so no real gain. Has anyone else seen this catch on, or was that just one weird candidate in Austin?

That "looks better" thing is off. Two weeks is the standard, and companies know it. Moving the start date back does exactly what your HR said, it just buys you a week of unpaid waiting around. A three week notice is really only useful if you're mid-project and want to leave on good terms. Most places don't care, they just want the date locked in. That TikTok advice is just noise.
