Contract role offered me $85 an hour, but the health insurance gap hit me hard
After 3 years of full-time salaried gigs, I took a 6-month contract in Austin last month and math'd out the pay bump, but my COBRA quote came back at $1,400 a month, has anyone else eaten that cost or found a cheaper route?

$1,400 a month is steep but that's still a big pay bump, so you're probably fine. Just pick a cheap high-deductible plan on the marketplace and call it a day.
