Am I the only one who got hired by walking into the office instead of applying online?
I sent out 60 applications online over four months and got two callbacks, both for jobs I was overqualified for. A guy at a temp agency in Dallas told me to just show up at small companies with a resume, so I tried it on a Tuesday at a little accounting firm downtown. I asked to speak to the office manager and talked to her for ten minutes, and she called me back on Friday with a $19 an hour front desk job. It turns out small places around here never post openings and just hire whoever walks in first. Has anyone else had luck just showing up somewhere, or am I the only one still doing this?
