After a rainy weekend, I'm rethinking my camp kitchen setup
Some say to pack light with just a basic stove, while others bring full kits for better cooking. My heavy burner was slow in the damp cold. What's your view on gear weight versus comfort?

My cousin Jake always brings a giant coffee maker camping. It takes up half his pack and never works right in the cold. This is like when people buy huge SUVs for the once a year road trip but deal with bad gas mileage every day. Or how we keep every kitchen gadget but only use the same three pots. Sometimes simpler gear, like a basic stove, just works better without the extra weight.

Camping trips got better when I stopped overpacking gadgets. My old fancy stove (so frustrating in wind) got replaced by a simpler version. It heats faster, weighs less, and lets me enjoy the outdoors without hassle.

Oh wow, my friend Dave had a rough time with his heavy camp stove last year. He brought this big two-burner setup to a wet site, and it took forever to boil water. He ended up cold and hungry because the gear was too slow in the damp air. Now he uses a lighter, simpler stove that works better in those conditions. It's all about finding that balance between what you carry and how well you eat.
