Why does nobody talk about walnut moving that much after one hot week
I had a walnut face frame job in a garage here in Tucson and the homeowner texted me Monday that a seam had opened up about 1/16 inch. I grabbed my moisture meter and the walnut was sitting at 11% when I'd cut it, but it had dropped to 6% after that 108 degree stretch. I always figured walnut was pretty stable once it came inside, but that 5% swing was enough to move it after a week in the dry heat. Now I'm wondering how many of you let stock sit in the customer's space before the final cut, and how long do you give it?
