Tried the $0 challenge for a month and my bank account actually grew

I did a no spend challenge where I only used stuff I already had at home for 30 days, no eating out or buying anything new. My credit card bill was $180 lower than normal but I ran out of toothpaste on day 26 and had to borrow from my neighbor. Has anyone else seen a real difference in their savings from doing something like this or did I just get lucky with timing?

Haha I ran out of toothpaste too, guess my zero spending skills are as sharp as my budgeting.
