I finally figured out why my grocery budget was always blown by Wednesday
I overheard my neighbor talking to her mom about how she plans meals around what's on sale each week, not the other way around. It hit me that I was doing it backwards - I'd pick recipes first, then buy ingredients at full price. Last Sunday I sat down with the weekly ads from Kroger and built meals around the $1.99 chicken thighs and 88 cent bell peppers. Ended up saving $47 that week alone. Has anyone else tried flipping their meal planning this way?

Wow, that's actually a smart hack, never thought about coordinating with neighbors on sale cycles.

jason73 "overheard" is doing a LOT of heavy lifting here. You're acting like you cracked a secret government code because you looked at a sale paper. It's not THAT deep. People have been meal planning around sales since coupons were invented. You just weren't doing it before. Congrats, you saved some money, but don't act like you discovered fire. Honestly, if your budget was getting blown that fast, your bigger problem might be impulse buying or portion control, not the tactic itself.
