Stopped booking separate flights and started using one round trip with a long layover in Atlanta
For years I booked two one way tickets to save money, but last month I tried a single round trip with a 6 hour layover and it came out $85 cheaper total. I just grabbed lunch and read a book in the terminal, so it wasn't bad at all. Has anyone else noticed round trips beating two one ways lately, or is that just my route?
Curious whether the $85 savings held up once you count the time cost of that layover, since six hours is a big chunk of a day. Even at a low hourly value, giving up half a day can eat a lot of the savings. What route was this on, and did you check if the price gap was still there on other dates?
