Appreciation post: the $1.29 bag of rice at Aldi that saved my dinners after my stove broke
My oven died 3 weeks ago in my apartment in Dayton and I had exactly $40 left for food until payday, so I did not go buy a bunch of frozen meals. I got a cheap bag of rice, a bag of frozen mixed veggies, and a dozen eggs, and I ate rice bowls with a fried egg on top for 6 straight nights. It got a little old by night 4, but I was full and I did not touch my credit card once. I know some people will say rice and eggs is boring, but boring beats broke.
Rice and eggs got me through a tight month last year too, and honestly it is not even bad with some hot sauce on it. Being full and not touching the card is the real win here, so good on you for making it work. Boring beats broke any day of the week.
