Sat through a timeshare pitch in Orlando to get a $100 Visa card and overheard two brokers arguing about fee structures
I was at one of those resort presentations in Orlando last month because they promised me a $100 gift card just for showing up. While waiting for my wife to finish the tour, I sat in the lobby and two guys in suits next to me were going back and forth about whether flat fees or commission based models screw over clients more. One said flat fees create lazy brokers who stop working once they get paid, the other said commissions make brokers push bad trades just to earn their cut. I walked out with my gift card but I still can't decide who was right. Does anyone here actually prefer one fee model over the other, or does it really just depend on the broker?
