Just realized cacti can live 200 years but my 3 year old one is already dying, why do we treat them as beginner plants?
Saw a stat at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix. Some saguaros hit 150 years easily. Meanwhile every beginner guide says buy a cactus, impossible to kill. That's a lie. I've killed 4 since 2021. Overwatering, bad pots, wrong soil. Maybe they're harder than people admit. Or maybe I just suck. Anyone else think the cactus for beginners advice is backwards? Which side are you on, tough or fragile?
