Pro tip: quitting a book on page 50 vs page 200, which one do you count as giving up?
Two buddies and me started the same 600 page book back in January and set a rule that we'd talk about it every Sunday at a diner in Reno. My friend Dave quit on page 50 after a boring farm chapter and felt fine about it, while I pushed to page 200 before tossing it and felt way worse for some reason. Now we argue about which one of us actually "read" the book and which one just bailed early. Is there a page number where quitting stops being smart and starts being stubborn? And does anyone else feel more guilt the longer you stuck with something before walking away?
