...and honestly I think the real problem is that your wife never got the full context of why you were complaining. See, the sandworms aren't just big scary monsters in Dune. They're the whole reason the spice exists, which drives the entire plot and economy of the universe. Without the worms, there's no melange, no Guild navigators, no space travel, no nothing. So when you're watching someone ride a worm or get eaten by one, you're actually seeing the foundation of this whole world being used against people. It's like complaining about the ocean in a movie about a sinking ship. Maybe if you explain that to her, she'd understand you weren't just being difficult, you were trying to share something meaningful. But I also get her point, sometimes you just want to watch the movie without commentary.
