I finally broke down and read A Little Life, I get the hype now
I avoided this book for like 3 years because everyone kept saying it would destroy me and I thought that was just drama, you know? Then my sister left her copy at my place in Portland last month and I picked it up out of boredom one rainy Saturday. By page 200 I was already crying, and by the end I had to put it down twice just to breathe. It wasn't the sad parts that got me, it was how real the friendships felt, like the author actually knew what it means to mess up saying the wrong thing to someone you love. That last chapter where Jude just sits with Willem, I had to call my best friend at 11pm and apologize for being a jerk about something dumb from last week. Has anyone else read it and then immediately needed to text someone important to them?
Wait, you called your best friend at 11pm over a book? That's either the most wholesome thing I've heard all week or you owe them coffee for life now. I'm honestly scared to even start this book because I know I'll be a mess for days.
