Trying to get a clean foil stamp on that thick Italian book cloth took me three full days

I had a custom order for a wedding guest book and the client wanted gold foil on this super thick cloth from a shop in Florence. My usual heat and pressure settings just would not take, it kept looking patchy. I must have done 30 test runs on scraps before I found the sweet spot by cranking the heat way up and holding it for 15 seconds. Anyone else run into this with the really dense European cloths?

That's the worst, when the usual method just refuses to work. It's like how some stains need way more elbow grease than others for no clear reason. You just have to keep trying stuff until something clicks.

Yeah, it's so true, @the_jessica. I feel like my whole life is just hitting the same wall over and over until my head gets sore. Like last week I spent an hour trying to get a printer to work, following the exact steps that always worked before. It just wouldn't connect, for no reason at all. I ended up unplugging it for a full day out of spite. Sometimes you just have to walk away and come back with a fresh set of eyes, or a bigger hammer. The stubborn problems make the easy wins feel that much better though.
