Glued my first spine in 2 years and the text block slid an inch before I caught it
Was casing in a rebound copy of a 1970s atlas at my kitchen table and the PVA grabbed unevenly, so the whole block shifted toward the tail. I clamped it, let it dry, and it still opens cocked about 5 degrees, which bugs me every time I see the endpapers. Do I cut it out and redo the case, or is there a trick for easing a shifted block without wrecking the hinge?
Watched a buddy try to ease a cocked block like that by misting the hinge with water and working it slow, and it just made the board warp instead. Cut it out and redo the case, fighting it never ends well.
