PSA: That cheap pizza stone from Walmart cracked on my second use
Grabbed a $12 square stone from Walmart last month. Figured it was all the same. Heated it up to 500 for a frozen pizza. Heard this loud crack after 10 minutes. Thing split right down the middle. Talked to the lady at the local bakery supply shop. She said those cheap ones can't handle temp changes fast. Picked up a cordierite stone for $35 instead. Been through 6 bakes now without a single issue. Anybody else have a stone fail on them like that?

My neighbor used her cheap stone as a trivet for a hot pan. Ended up with a crack too, but the worst part was it shattered while she was cleaning it the next day. Tiny pieces everywhere.

Oh man, that's brutal. Tiny pieces everywhere sounds like the worst cleanup ever, my kitchen floor is basically a crime scene after I drop anything. I did something kinda similar once, put a hot cast iron pan on a fancy cutting board and it left this perfect burnt ring. Now I just use a folded up dish towel like a real classy person.
