The camp stove that made me ditch my 40 mile plan in Oregon

I was 12 miles into the Three Sisters loop near Eugene last July, nursing a half-cooked ramen packet because my fuel canister was colder than the snowmelt. That night I watched a thru-hiker boil water in 4 minutes using a windscreen he'd bent from a soda can. Do you think a lightweight wind barrier is worth the extra 3 ounces on most routes, or should I just eat cold food when it blows?
