The $18 paper map that saved my butt when my phone died on the Olympic Peninsula
I dropped $18 on a waterproof paper map of the Olympic National Park at the ranger station in Port Angeles before heading out on a 4 day loop, mostly because my phone battery was already acting weird. Sure enough, my phone died on day 2 somewhere past the Hoh River and that map got me through the next two days of trail junctions without a single wrong turn. Anybody else still carry paper backups or am I just old school?
