I finally had to admit my nephew was right about my engine swap

Had a long talk with my nephew last Sunday after he helped me pull the old 350 out of my '72 Chevelle. He kept saying I was wasting time trying to rebuild a worn out block when I could just drop in a modern LS for less money. After totaling up the machine shop bill at $1,200 and still needing new pistons and rings, I finally saw his point. Has anyone else switched from a classic small block to a newer crate motor and regretted it?

Exactly the same thing happened to me with my '69 Camaro. I had the original 327 sitting on a stand for two years trying to justify the rebuild cost. Ended up dropping in a low-mile pulled LS from a wrecked truck with a mild cam for under two grand total. No regrets so far, car runs way better and starts every time without fighting it. Still got the original block in the corner of the shop though, just in case.

Bro that's exactly what I did with my '72 C10 lol. Had the old 350 block sitting around for over a year before I said screw it and found a cheap 5.3 from a wrecked Suburban for like $800. @luna_jackson28 the LS swap was the best decision I ever made, truck fires up first try even after sitting for weeks. Still got that 350 block under the workbench too, figure one day I might actually do something with it.
