Blew a charge pipe clamp on I-70 near Hays and fixed it with a hose clamp from a gas station
I was driving my WRX back from a mountain drive west of Denver when I heard a pop and lost all boost right around Hays, Kansas. Pulled into a Love's, popped the hood, and the silicone coupler on the intercooler piping had slipped off because the cheap worm gear clamp I used during my last mod session finally gave up. The station had a pack of hose clamps for $4 and I managed to get it back together in the parking lot with a screwdriver and some elbow grease. It held for the 300 miles home but now I'm paranoid about every clamp on the car. What clamps are you guys actually running on your charge pipes, because I'm done with the parts store junk.
Man, it's always the cheap part that fails at the worst time, same thing happens with phone chargers and Dollar Store batteries. I switched to t-bolt clamps after my third parking lot fix and never looked back, you want the ones with a locking nut so they can't back off.
