Can we talk about how a broker with a 3.2 rating moved my car across the country without a scratch
Everyone in this group says skip anything under 4 stars, but I went with a small broker in Ohio sitting at 3.2 because they answered the phone on a Saturday and gave me a flat $850 quote to move my Civic from Columbus to Phoenix. I read the bad reviews first and most of them were about slow pickup windows, not damage or billing, so I figured that risk was worth it. They picked up in 2 days, the driver called me at each stop, and the car showed up clean 5 days later with no extra fees at delivery. I get why people push the high rated shops, but has anyone else had a decent run with a low rated broker when the complaints were all about timing?
Had a similar thing happen with a 3.5 rated guy out of Indiana a couple years back. I did the same homework you did, read the bad reviews and saw they were all about pickup delays and bad phone manners, nothing about the car getting messed up or surprise charges. For me the price was locked in writing and the driver was fine, so it worked out. Your mileage may vary with these smaller brokers since a lot rides on which driver they end up booking, but if the gripes are only about timing then yeah, that feels like a bet worth taking.
