Update: I quit using impact guns on lug nuts and it cost me a comeback

Everyone at my shop swears by hand torque only on everything, but last week I watched a guy lose a wheel on I-35 because his torque wrench was never calibrated in 4 years. I still hit lugs with the gun first and finish with a torque stick, and I've had zero comebacks in 14 months. Anyone else think the anti-impact crowd is just covering for bad torque-wrench habits?
