I finally saw what happens with a full synthetic swap at 100k miles

Everyone told me to never switch from conventional to synthetic on a high-mileage engine, but I did it on my 2002 F-150 with 103k on the clock. After 5,000 miles, not a single leak and the oil comes out cleaner than it ever did before. Has anyone else tried this on an older truck and seen the same thing?

Yeah reading your post reminded me of when I switched my old '02 Silverado over at about 95k miles. I was real nervous about it because of all the horror stories online about sludge and leaks. I went with a high mileage synthetic blend first for a few oil changes just to ease into it, then did a full synthetic about 3k miles later. It's been about 15k miles since and I honestly think the engine runs smoother and it's way cleaner when I drain it. No leaks at all either.

Hey glad it worked out for you. I did the same on my '99 Silverado with 120k and never had issues either.
