Just realized I've been mixing filler by feel for 15 years and finally bought a scale last week
Back in the day at the shop on Canal Street we just squeezed the tube and eyeballed the hardener, maybe 2 percent if it looked thin, 3 if it was hot out. I did it that way for 15 years and probably ate a hundred comebacks from pinholing and shrink. Last week I finally dropped $45 on a gram scale and now I measure everything at 2 percent by weight, no guessing. The first panel I did with it cured so even I barely had to touch it with 180. I feel kind of dumb for not doing it sooner but nobody taught me that way, my old boss just said feel it out. Any of you still mixing by eye or did you switch over at some point?
