Clearcoat failure on a 2019 F-150, caught it before winter hit
Had a 2019 F-150 come in last month with hood clearcoat peeling right along the front edge, looked like the sun baked it off after three salty winters in Buffalo. I stripped it down to bare metal with a DA and 80 grit, then shot two coats of SPI epoxy before the base so it wouldn't come back. Took about 6 hours extra on the prep, but the owner said he'd been quoted $900 at a chain shop for just a scuff and respray, so I think he got his money's worth. Has anyone else seen this early clear failure on Fords, or did I just get the unlucky one?
