Dropped $230 on a star tracker for my camera and it fixed my biggest problem
I got into shooting the Milky Way a while back but my pics always had star trails because my old tripod would slowly drift. So I bought a small star tracker mount for about $230 and took it out to a dark spot near Bend, Oregon. First night out I set it up wrong and got 45 minutes of wasted shots, but once I figured out the alignment it was a whole new world. I can now do 60 second subs at ISO 800 instead of 10 second subs at ISO 6400, and the noise difference is night and day. Anyone else here shooting tracked and doing longer exposures? Curious what sub lengths you all run before the sky glow starts wrecking things.
