Update: my grandma's recipe box went from 3x5 cards to a shared phone album and I miss the handwriting
Back in 2011 my grandma had maybe 90 recipe cards crammed in a wooden box by her stove, all splattered with butter and written in her shaky cursive. Last month my aunt scanned the whole thing into a shared photo album on our phones, so now 14 of us can pull up her banana bread in two taps. It's handy, sure, but nobody's arguing over who gets the original card anymore, and that fight was kind of the point. Has anyone else moved a family recipe collection to their phone and felt weird about it?

Congrats, your family traded a butter stained treasure for a camera roll nobody will ever scroll past twice. In five years someone will ask where grandma's banana bread recipe went and the answer will be "buried under 400 pics of my dog." At least the scanned version can't get lost in a move, I guess. Silver lining and all that.
