Noticed something odd at the Mesa Verde cliff dwellings last week
I finally got to tour the Spruce Tree House site and the guided tour mentioned only about 80 of the 600+ rooms there are actually accessible to visitors. But what really caught my eye was how the kiva roofs are reconstructed, they use modern logs that look way too fresh compared to the ancient stonework around them. Does anyone else find that mix kind of jarring, or do you think it helps people picture how it actually functioned back then?
