Field notes on paper vs. tablet, 80% of my excavation team switched back

I used to swear by my tablet for logging trench layers at the dig near Volubilis. Fast uploads, easy photos, all that. Then last season we lost three days of data when the battery died and the sync failed, and my supervisor just said 'paper doesnt crash.' Now I carry a waterproof notebook and a 2B pencil, and I log everything by hand first, then digitize at night. It takes an extra 45 minutes after dinner, but Ive caught two stratigraphy mistakes that the tablet autocorrect would have buried. Anyone else gone back to analog recording out of pure fear of tech failure?
