A climber in Portland told me my hitch was too short, I figured he was just being picky
Ran a 30 inch VT on my lanyard for almost 2 years because that was how the last guy on my crew set it up. A contract climber watched me work a removal in Portland last month and said flat out, that hitch is barely grabbing, you are one slip away from a fall. I blew him off until I watched it creep on a smooth bark maple the next day. Swapped to a 34 inch cord and the grab is night and day. Has anyone else had a hitch length bite them like that?
