Spent 4 hours on a dryer that just needed a door switch clean

I had a Whirlpool duet dryer that wouldn't start, and I went down the rabbit hole of testing the thermal fuse, the start switch, and the control board before I noticed the door switch contacts were just dirty. A quick wipe with some sandpaper fixed it in 2 minutes. Has anyone else spent way too long on a simple fix because you assumed it had to be something harder?

Oh come on, that's just bad troubleshooting - you should have checked the SIMPLEST thing first before tearing the whole machine apart. 4 hours on a door switch means you didn't have a proper plan or even look at the basic stuff.

I can relate to that, @the_jade - I once spent three hours trying to fix a washer that wouldn't drain, only to find a sock stuck in the pump. Sometimes you just get tunnel vision on the hard stuff and miss the obvious.
