Watching the 'One Piece' finale with 50 people at the local theater completely shifted how I view big anime moments.
The collective gasp and then total silence during a certain character's speech made me realize I'd been missing the shared emotional weight you only get in a crowd, so has anyone else had a viewing experience that changed their opinion on a series?

That "shared emotional weight" idea is interesting but it works the opposite way for me. A crowd's reaction just pulls me out of the story and makes it about the room. I get way more from a show when I can just feel my own thing without the noise.

You said the "shared emotional weight" thing and that hit me. I used to think watching stuff at home was the best, no distractions. But I saw the final fight of that Demon Slayer season in a packed room at a con. Hearing everyone yell and then go dead quiet at the same time, it just hit different. It made me feel the hype way more than I ever did alone. Totally changed how I want to watch big episodes now.
