Rant: Anime parents never seem to do any actual parenting.
Just finished a show where the mom was always working and the kids raised themselves. It got me thinking about how common that setup is in stories. What's the weirdest family dynamic you've seen in anime?

Honestly the one where the dad was a literal couch was pretty out there. The whole show just ran with it like it was totally normal.

Read about a show where the dad is a sentient hot spring. That concept is just BONKERS to me, like how does that even work for school paperwork. Some of these setups are so wild they wrap back around to being kind of funny.
