Unpopular opinion: fixing your own light leaks beats buying new gear

I spent 3 months blaming my Canon AE-1 for fogged frames, then realized the foam seals were shot after I tested with a flashlight in my dark bathroom. Replaced them with some $8 craft store felt and now my rolls come out clean. Has anyone else fixed an old camera instead of upgrading when it misbehaved?

Did you check the mirror bumper too, or just the door seals?
