Shoutout to the lab tech in Dallas who showed me my light leak was actually my changing bag
So I shot a roll of Portra 400 at a car show in Fort Worth back in March and every single frame had this weird orange streak down the left side. I spent almost three weeks chasing it. I taped up the door on my Canon AE-1, I switched from my 50mm to a different lens, I even shot a whole test roll with the camera inside a dark closet. Still there. I finally drove the roll to a lab in Dallas and the guy behind the counter took one look at the negatives and asked what color my changing bag was on the inside. Turns out the liner had worn thin and light was bouncing off the zipper seam when I loaded the film in my living room with the window open. He said he sees it about once a month and nobody ever guesses the bag. I switched to loading film in a windowless bathroom and the streaks vanished completely. Anyone else had their darkroom gear quietly mess up a month of shooting before they caught it?
