I read 100 books this year and it made me realize Frodo should have just let Sam carry the ring
I finished my 100th book of the year on Sunday and it got me thinking about how The Lord of the Rings ends, because in the movie it takes this whole dramatic moment at Mount Doom for Frodo to finally fail and Gollum to bite his finger off. But what if Sam had just carried the ring the last stretch after Shelob's lair, since he's the one who never got tempted by it at all? Would that make the story better or would it kind of kill the whole point that even the purest guy can't handle that thing alone?
