I finally stopped ignoring the old timers who hang out at the dead mall food court
One guy at the Westgate Mall in Cleveland told me to check above the ceiling tiles for old tenant signs before I took any pictures, and after I did I found a 1980s RadioShack logo still up there. Anyone else got random tips from strangers that actually improved their mall exploration game?

Those old signs are probably just tacky leftovers nobody cared to remove.

I mean, calling them "tacky leftovers" feels a bit harsh. Some of those old signs are actually pretty cool pieces of local history, even if they're a little faded. I've seen a few that were hand-painted by local businesses back in the 50s, and they've got way more character than the generic vinyl banners they'd replace them with. Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather have a slightly worn neon sign that's been there for decades than a clean plastic one that's exactly the same as the one down the street.
